Secret Acid Wash -- "'93 GLOW BONES"

We were originally planning on releasing this Acid Wash version of the "April Fools" Dino Pack X Gecko tee -- but, we made mistake! On some of the 2XL's and ALL of the 3XLs, we accidentally printed it on the front side, with a Gecko logo on one sleeve and Dino Pack logo on the other sleeve (like we did for the kids tees)! 

Small through XL got printed the right way, with the design on the back, Gecko logo on the front and Dino Pack on the Sleeve. 

But since sold out so fast when we released it, and we have had a ton of requests for it, and we are NOT going to print it again -- we thought we would launch these anyway! (They look awesome on Black Volcanic Acid Wash!)

Gecko Fans, get ready for some secret history that will blow your mind!

 

WTF IS A DINO PACK?

AND HOW IS IT RELATED TO GECKO?

Back in 1993, Jurassic Park hit theaters and absolutely melted brains.

It wasn’t just a movie—it was a full-blown cultural event.

Kids everywhere went freaking

INSANE for dinosaurs!

They suddenly needed dinosaur everything!

Hats… Lunchboxes… SHIRTS!

Knowing that Jurassic Park was going to EXPLODE in the summer of ‘93, Gecko quietly pulled together a few Gecko artists that had also come down with Jurassic dino fever — and filled them in our idea of creating some “prehistoric chaos.”

Sounds cool…

But dinosaurs? 

That’s not Gecko, dude.

So, instead of mixing worlds…

We went undercover.

And our secret side project was released into the wild:

DINOPACK!

We sold millions of these!

Mervyn’s, Fred Meyer, Kohl’s, JC Penney, Miller’s Outpost & Gottschalks all the places (most of them don’t exist anymore) wanted to get their hands on Dinopack  — to help fill the gap & demand for dino tees!

If you were between 4 and 14 years old in 1993, there’s, like, a 93.2% chance you owned one.

Your mom definitely bought it for you when they were sold out of official Jurassic Park gear!

Talk about meta retro layers…

Dino Pack artwork is a time capsule of a “1990’s perception” of what a dinosaur looked like!

It’s gloriously inaccurate. 

Beautifully cheesy. Extremely iconic. Definitely ironic!

In other words,

Dino Pack is what you get when when you ask a young artist to try and draw something similar to a Jurassic Park dino, after they spent the day with their kids watching The Land Before Time, then fell asleep on the couch watching the “straight to video” horror flick CARNASAUR on USA Up All Night! 

The original GLOW BONES did not have a “Geckosaurus.”
